Nothing will ruin your trip to the slopes faster than sore feet, but knowing the tips on getting the right fit for ski boots will help you avoid that. If you are going to rent ski boots making sure the company you are renting from has knowledgeable employees so that you get the correct fit is imperative. Always make sure you try on the ski boot before renting or purchasing, just going by your shoe size is not the correct way to go about getting the right fit. You don’t want your foot to slosh around inside the boot as this will cause blisters and sore feet. You ski boot should be snug and supportive around the ankle. A ski boot should be stiff and there are different degrees of stiffness for the kind of skier you are. The stiffest boots are for alpine racers, and the least stiff are for beginners. When you are ready to try on and purchase ski boots, the sock is also important. Some socks will bunch and roll within the boot and that will give you sore feet, so having the correct sock on when trying your boots will save you some grief when you are on top of the mountain.

When buying a pair of skis, it’s very important to determine what kind of skiing you will be doing. One type of ski can not be used for the other discipline of skiing. Downhill skis are designed and intended for skiing down a hill or mountain. In a downward direction. Cross Country skiing is done directly straight ahead, or at times in an upward direction, hence a similarity to hiking, and the back of the skiers heal can lift up from the ski, when wearing a pair of cross country skis.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. Downhill skis are are never separated from the ski boot, except in cases of falling, the skis separate from the boot when a skier falls. Downhill skis are designed to come off or separate from a ski boot when a skier fall to try to prevent serious injuries to the one or both legs of the skier. Another major difference between the two types of skis is the width. Downhill skis are much wider then cross country skis. Downhill skis are designed to reach maximum skis weather leisurely sking for fun or actively participating in racing, the skis must be of a certain width to be able to reach high speeds.
